The Mariners out-shot the Commandos 30-15, including 14-4 in the third period, but could not find the equalizer.
The Commandos would score two in the second period to take a 3-1 lead after Max Robitaille’s 17th of the year tied it up for Yarmouth.
Yarmouth’s Mike Snow would make it 3-2 late in the second.
Dieppe would add two empty netters late in the third to put the game out of reach.
Mariners Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says his team is still learning how to win.
“Championship teams find ways. The hardest thing to do is get that first goal, but after that they roll along pretty easily. We’re just looking for that god almighty 60 minutes and finding ways to win games. Dieppe is a good hockey club. They came in and played a real structured game. We got caught watching pucks for five minutes of the second period and it cost us the game.”
Leif Hertz took the loss in goal, and Frederic Foulem was brilliant in net for Dieppe, especially in the third period.
The defeat dropped the Mariners into a tie for second place with Truro, and six points behind the first place Pictou County Weeks Crushers.
The Mariners head out on the road this weekend, Saturday night in Amherst and Sunday at Summerside.
