SHYFT Youth Services in Yarmouth is spreading the word about a new fundraiser.
It’s called ‘Homeless for a Night’ and it aims to raise awareness and money for homeless and at-risk youth in Yarmouth County.
The event will be held April 7th at Alma Square downtown.
SHYFT Executive Director Adam Dolliver hopes this will be a real eye-opener.
“What the idea is, you come out and spend the night outside and get a real feel for what it’s like for people who are homeless and what life is like if you had to sleep on the street.”
Dolliver says he’s been wanting to do this fundraiser since he started at SHYFT in 2014.
“I thought it was a really innovative way to bring awareness to homelessness and to raise some money for the organization.”
They will also be taking pledges with all proceeds going to the SHYFT house.
Dolliver says they are still working on planning activities for the night.
