Nova Scotia artist Maude Lewis will be celebrated tomorrow with the unveiling of a stamp honouring her famous work.
The Nova Scotia Division of the Arthritis Society will unveil the commemorative stamp tomorrow afternoon.
Susan Tilley-Russell is the Executive Director, Atlantic Region for the society.
“We wanted to do something to celebrate Maud and Nova Scotia Heritage Day. As you know that Maude is the honouree this year for Nova Scotia Heritage Day.”
Tilley-Russell says they wanted to honour her life and works.
“We’ve created a limited edition stamp with one of her very special pictures on it, so it’ll be a surprise until tomorrow”
Maud Lewis was born in Yarmouth.
February 18 is a statutory holiday.
The unveiling of the limited edition stamp displaying one of her paintings takes place at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax.
