The province says the new budget includes a lot for the Tri-Counties.
There’s money for continued work on the Yarmouth Regional Hospital expansion, and a dialysis unit expansion at Roseway Hospital in Shelburne.
MLA Nick Hilton says budgets can be difficult, but Yarmouth is succeeding.
“We see the work around the Mariners Centre, the Yarmouth ER expansion, and recent housing announcements on Shaw Avenue and James Street. I know there are difficulties with financial outlooks for all provinces, but we are investing in Nova Scotians and I’m supportive of this government and the people of Yarmouth,” says Hilton.

The province’s new budget did include tourism cuts.
Yarmouth’s Visitor Information Centre was a part of the job losses, the centre inside the Firefighters Museum will not re-open.
Hilton says people are accessing information online.
“I’d never downplay the loss of any jobs, but the way people access tourism is different. The loss of jobs is important to any community, but we are moving forward.”
There’s also funding for the new École Baie Sainte-Marie in Clare, which is expected to open this fall.
