Are you scared of spiders?
Winter is the time of year you are most likely to see spiders in your home. Naturally just like any animal or insect they will seek out warmth in order to survive. For about a month we had a Common House Spider that was in our apartment. These little guys are harmless, and as the name suggest can be found almost everywhere but especially in North America, Europe and Asia.
If it was summer, I probably would have grabbed some paper towel or a tissue and let it outside but instead we decided to let it live in our home. After all it wasn’t stopping us from going about our day to day lives! Truth be told I’ve never understood arachnophobia, at least not here in Canada. The most venomous spider we have to deal with is the Black Widow, and those are found west of Ontario only!
Spiders help our ecosystem by keeping the fly population in check. While our little friend was in our apartment we had virtually no flies throughout the entire place! I saw a fly just last night and my first thought wasn’t to swat at it, but rather “darn, I wish that spider came back out of the walls” which leads me to my next point. Like it or not there are spiders in your home, you just cant see them. Most of them hide in behind the drywall and other areas that us as big humans can’t get to!
big or small, when you see a spider, what’s your reaction?
