A flight arriving at Halifax Stanfield International Airport skidded off the runway during landing and got stuck in the snow, prompting an emergency response and temporarily disrupting airport operations.
It happened Wednesday around 8:20 p.m. on a flight coming in from Toronto, while the province was getting hit by a snowstorm.
According to comments from passengers posted online along with videos, there was a hard impact as the aircraft tilted and scraped along the runway, with sparks and flames visible from one wing.
All passengers and crew were safely evacuated, and only minor injuries were reported.
One runway was shut down while crews secured the scene and inspected the airfield.
Halifax Stanfield says, by 6:45 p.m., Thursday, the aircraft was safely removed. Both runways are now open.
The Transportation Safety Board says they are looking into the incident.
