The Yarmouth SPCA have temporarily reduced their shelter hours.
But they’re still serving the community.
For now, the shelter on Hardscratch Road is open Friday to Monday, instead of the normal Tuesday to Sunday.
In a post on Facebook, the shelter says it’s a slower season, and they need to change how they operate so they can be responsible with funding and keep providing services.
They say the public continues to use the animal food bank at the shelter, and they work with those who surrender animals.
The phone lines and email will continue to be answered seven days a week.
They add that people in Yarmouth care deeply, and they intend to return to normal hours when services volumes support it.
If you’ve found a stray animal, they ask you to contact them so they can make a safe plan.
