A tradition in Yarmouth for over three decades.
The Yarmouth Legion is hosting a free Christmas dinner on Christmas Day from noon to 3 p.m.
Organizer Brenda Hattie says they served over 400 people last year.
“The first year 31 years ago, I fed 12 people, six of them were volunteers. People told me this wasn’t going to work. I said if I’ve fed one person, I’ve done my job,” said Hattie.
This year, Hattie says numbers could grow to over 500, everyone is welcome.
“Since I’ve been in Yarmouth, the need has grown. This is how this Christmas dinner started, it was overwhelming, so many people requested meals.”
She thanks all the local businesses and citizens that donated, and volunteers for helping out.
There are eat-in, take-out and delivery options available.
