This morning I started my usual morning shift routine with a stop at the drive through to pick up a quick breakfast. When it came time to pay I was told the car in front of me covered my order! I didn’t know who they were, and chances are they didn’t recognize me but that small act was more than enough to make my morning feel much better than it did moments ago.
Graced by some good old Holiday generosity I did what felt right and paid for the order of the car behind me, paying it forward and keeping the train of generosity going.
Paying for someone’s order is just one of many ways to pay it forward and brighten someone’s day, how do you pay it forward?
A few ideas include helping your neigbours with tasks like shoveling the walkway, clearing leaves or other yard related work.
Another fantastic way to pay it forward is through donations! Donating clothing you no longer need can help someone in need stay warm through the winter months. Donating blood can literally save someone’s life in their time of need, and there are blood drives regularly happening throughout the Tri Counties (Feb 2nd in Barrington Passage and Feb 3rd in Yarmouth.)
Most importantly, paying it forward by being kind can go a long way. Whether it’s your everyday workplace interaction, or a passerby on the street, Being kind can leave an impression on someone that will carry them through the longest of days and the darkest of storms!
