The MHL All-Stars put on a great show in Yarmouth.
Will Allen’s overtime winner pushed the South Division over the North team 5-4 in the league’s annual showcase.
The Pictou County Crusher says it felt great to contribute.
“It was awesome, the main thing is that everyone had a lot of fun, and it was nice to see the league’s best all together,” said Allen, who played on a line with Crushers’ teammates Logan Crosby and Cade Moser.
The game was played in front of 900 fans at Mariners Centre.
Allen was also named the South Division’s Player of the Game, while Caleb MacDonald of the Campbellton Tigers took the honour on the North side.
Yarmouth Mariners captain Justin Garneau also had a goal in the game, assisted by teammate Jared Pitman.
He says it was great to show-off Yarmouth to the rest of the league.
“I think it’s great, and Yarmouth is such a great place. This was really fun for the town and the fans,” said Garneau.
Yarmouth goaltender Keegan Warren played the first half of the game, stopping 15 of 16 shots, defender Jano Zambakdjian also took part.
Team South built a 4-1 lead, but Miramichi Timberwolves forward Alexis Doucet tied the game in the final minute.
The game also featured an NHL legend behind each bench, Duane Sutter for Team North and Brian Skrudland for Team South.
