A new development could be coming for the former tourist bureau in downtown Yarmouth.
The town owns the property on the corner of Forest and Main streets, and have a proposal from Halifax-owned GCORP Real Estate.
The developers want to turn it into a 45,000 square-foot mixed-use commercial and residential space.
Mayor Pam Mood says the area is growing, with housing developments going up on Water Street and Shaw Avenue.
“We’ve got a lot going on in Yarmouth. Developers are looking at us. and they our growth and the expansion, it’s clear they want in on it as well,” said Mood.
A public hearing will be held on December 11 at town hall.
It’s required when municipal land is sold for less than market value.
“The growth of the town and industries here, having these developers taking a second look at us, they’re going to come in and do what they do best.”
