A new way to honour veterans in Digby.
The town painted three crosswalks, one featuring poppies and the phrase ‘Lest We Forget’ ahead of Remembrance Day.
It was in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 20, the Wesleyan church and Digby Salvage and Disposal.
Legion president Tim Caudle says the veterans love it.
“A little reminder that they aren’t forgotten. With all the things going on in Canada, legion members can feel like they’re forgotten sometimes. Having this in place from the town is a great benefit.
Two of the crosswalks are by the Cenotaph, where the annual Remembrance Day service will be held.
The Town of Digby will host it, cadets and Girl Guides will help with wreath laying.
Caudle says there will be a contingent from Greenwood for the ceremony.
