The ‘CAT’ ferry season is over.
The Bay Ferries vessel making its final crossings of the season between Yarmouth and Maine on Wednesday.
Passenger numbers have been down this year, as fewer Canadians are travelling to the U.S.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association executive director Neil MacKenzie says they continue to invest in the northeastern U.S. market.
“We continue to make sure Americans and all visitors feel welcome in our community. We continue to work hard and build our season, and push that out,” said MacKenzie.
He says Yarmouth is advancing in the cruise ship market, with another one arriving Friday.
MacKenzie adds the tourism season is not over for the region.
“There are early indicators that there’s been a drop in Canadian-bound travel in both air-and car, but we had a nice lift from Maritimers staying in the region and travelling around the province.”
MacKenzie adds next week’s Nova Scotia Music Week festival will add millions of dollars for the region.
