Dry conditions have been a challenge in Barrington.
The municipality says water is in short supply in many areas.
They’re offering showers at the arena on Sherose Island, there’s also a water supply lending program.
Warden Shaun Hatfield says the community is also helping one another.
“Water is life, we all need it. In times like this, we all need to use it responsibly. If we have more than somebody else, we need to share it. I think that’s a good human principle,” said Hatfield.
He says they’re keeping an eye on the water supply on the island, as the arena and curling rink rely heavily on it for their operation.
“We need to be prudent. We want to help the community, but at the same time, we need to balance that in keeping our municipal amenities up and running.”
The municipality says they have no way of knowing how much water is still available at the arena.
They say under similar circumstances in the past, the well has run dry, resulting in damage to the pump.
