Argyle council wants signage at all provincially-owned wharves.
Warden Nicole Albright wrote to the Public Works department, calling it a safety issue.
Albright says it would help emergency services be able to identify wharves in case of emergency.
“I think residents are looking for a solution to indicate where our public wharves are in our municipality. They want to make sure they’re more visible for the community,” said Albright.
They’re also looking for the actual name of a lane that goes to the Eel Brook wharf, saying it’s misidentified as ‘Beech Lane’ on Google Maps.
“This creates confusion for residents, visitors, and service providers, as there is another “Beech Lane” located in Eel Brook,” said Albright in the letter.
There is currently one full-time and one part-time resident using the lane.
The decision on the signage and re-naming rests with the province.
