Construction on Yarmouth’s long-awaited new emergency department is about to begin.
According to Yarmouth MLA Nick Hilton, it’s going to start at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital following Thanksgiving weekend.
The new department will be built in the front parking lot in the School of Nursing.
That means there will be no more parking in that area when you visit the hospital, but the main entrance remains open for drop-off.
A new 57 space parking lot will open at the corner of Vancouver Street and Grove Road, and Hilton says additional options are being explored.
The project is going to take three years, and will double the size of the current department.
