The Yarmouth Mariners couldn’t find the back of the net against the defending champs.
They lost 3-0 to the Edmundston Blizzard on Saturday night at home in front of 1,160 fans.
It’s the second time they’ve been shut-out in their last three games.
Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says their special teams have to get going.
“The older guys we put in big situations, and I think we’re under 10 percent on our powerplay so far this season. That’s what’s killing us so far. Our penalty kill has been good but our powerplay just hasn’t been good enough,” said Barron.
Yarmouth went 0/2 on the man advantage, they’ve scored just two powerplay goals through five games.
The Mariners gave up a powerplay and shorthanded goal in the loss.
“We had a strong first 10 minutes, but they have a good championship pedigree over there. They were just mentally tougher and got under our skin.”
Edmundston goalie Cedric Masse stopped all 23 shots he faced.
Keegan Warren made 36 saves, the Mariners next face the Crushers on the road Thursday.
