Over the past year I have done plenty of flying from place to place. Although the sights were beautiful in the sky and the distances travel drastically shortened it doesn’t compare to the beautiful sights I’ve seen while in a car.
I’ve been on just as many (if not more) road trips throughout my life, from our yearly trips to Flin Flon, Manitoba to see my Baba, to the pre-cottage road trips to get as far away from the city as possible. But my most memorable road trip happened only two weeks shy of a year ago when my Girlfriend made her way to Ottawa where we would reunite and finish moving in together here in Yarmouth. Up to that point I had only seen part way to Ottawa years prior.
We went from Ottawa, through Montreal to Quebec City, and then eventually Saint John, New Brunswick. I can now confidently say I’ve driven through about half of Canada on the main highways and it’s really put into perspective how beautiful Canada Truly is!
Last year my teaching chef from high school stopped in town near the end of their retirement journey. The ultimate journey that started in Toronto, went to Vancouver BC, to Churchill Manitoba and the furthest north road in the world located in Tuktoyaktuk in the Northwest Territories. A road trip I envy to say the least!
Have you gone on many road trips? where were you headed?
