Good Morning !
When I am in the Annapolis valley I can’t help but stop at the local farm markets to check out the produce and Fresh Local Apples !
The Early Apples as I call them – Like The Jersey Mac . It is an early strain of the McIntosh Apple, with a sweet, juicy, tart taste. As one grower puts it, “Jersey Mac is a good choice for McIntosh lovers who are getting impatient waiting for the Macs to ripen.” I totally agree and even prefer The Jersey Mac.
Gravenstein Apples are also an early favorite .The Gravenstein is the multi-purpose apple. A delightful flavor & very juicy when eaten fresh; great to cook with and makes a might tasty cider. Gravenstein apples also store successfully for several months in cold storage. In 1835: Charles R. Prescott introduced the Gravenstein variety to Nova Scotia, he was Nova Scotia’s Johnny Appleseed.
