More money for housing in Yarmouth.
The town is going to provide up to $650,000 in affordable housing development grants.
It’s going to help with construction of semi-detached homes, duplexes, townhouses and more.
Mayor Pam Mood says there’s also money for fix-ups to existing rentals.
“Landlords know how difficult it is to keep up with rentals, and we want to make sure that can happen. And that’s $10,000 per unit, $50,000 per building,” said Mayor Mood.
She hopes it will lead to more homes for residents.
Mood believes the town is on a great path.
“The more [housing] we have, the more the population is going to grow. Folks from outside can say we’ll go to Yarmouth and there might actually be housing availability.”
