Pencils are packed and the snack cupboard is full.
Classes begin Thursday for over 6,100 students in the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education.
Regional executive director Jared Purdy says staff have been busy preparing over the summer.
“We put in a new metal roof at Carleton school, new windows at Barrington High, a new roof at Shelburne High, and a new parent drop-off spot and additional parking at Hillcrest Academy,” said Purdy.
He ads the School Lunch Program is expanding to Grade 7-12 schools with an updated menu.
Once again, a ban on cellphone use in class is in place.
Purdy says the policy has been well received.
“Honestly, there wasn’t a lot of noise or pushback on this. I’m very proud of our students, especially in a day and age where screens are present at all times.”
He asks drivers to be extra cautious Thursday, with many students taking the bus for the first time.
School also begins Thursday morning for students in CSAP schools.
