It’s become a tradition of the Wharf Rat Rally.
The Darren Williams Memorial Ride happens Saturday, as motorcyclists travel from the rally in Digby to the Afghanistan war memorial at Maple Grove school in Hebron.
Williams was an Afghan war vet from Ontario who died in a motorcycle accident in 2015, he started the ride 12 years ago.
One of the organizers Andre Boudreau says they re-named it after Williams nine years ago.
“We’ve had a good showing over the last few years, we’ve had up to 100 people attend. The locals here really show their support,” said Boudreau.
Riders will travel the old highway starting at 11, with the ceremony expected to begin after 12:30.
“There will be some speeches, and a normal remembrance service, the bikes will then carry on and travel through Yarmouth County.”
Boudreau says it gives us an opportunity to remember those who fell in the war, as many know the names on that monument.
Donations are also being accepted for the Rally Point Retreat for veterans.
