The Yarmouth charity Ribfest returns this Friday.
The town’s Rotary Club will host the festival with some money going toward local organizations. The Ribfest happens on the exhibition grounds by the Mariners Centre Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Ribfest co-chair and secretary of the Yarmouth Rotary Club Linda Deveau says it’s all for the community.
“We’re hoping for good times with good food and good friends for good causes,” says Deveau.
Deveau says they will have live music, activities for children and plenty of food, including plenty of ribs.
This year, they have some new vendors, new entertainers, new musicians, and some children’s activities. She says hopefully the weather will be better than last year, when the town got hit by a rainstorm during the festival.
She says their fundraising and proceeds will go toward food insecurity. They also have the Lions Club on site, doing a 50/50 draw, and The Yarmouth Ground Search and Rescue team will handle parking.
In the past they’ve given money to food banks, children’s breakfast programs at schools, and more.
She says they will decide how much money they have to donate and which groups will get it after the festival.
“There’s never a lack, unfortunately, of need,” says Deveau.
