A brand new music festival for the Town of Yarmouth.
‘Ultramarine’ will feature a mix of artists, all with ties to the area.
Organizer Trevor Murphy says Yarmouth has always had a really strong arts community.
“We wanted to build something that helps reflect that. We want to cement the idea that there’s a big legacy of artists that are inspired by and have lived in Yarmouth,” said Murphy.
The festival opens Friday night at the Holy Trinity Church with ‘Postdata’ headlining, featuring Paul Murphy of ‘Wintersleep.’
There’s also a show at the church Saturday night and at the Rudders Tent on the waterfront.
Murphy says around 10 artists are performing.
“It’s a selection of artists with ties to this area, and some that we’re curating that many in attendance will look forward to as well.”
Murphy says they wanted to bring a proper festival experience, especially after the success of the Congres Mondial Acadien last year.
He says it will be a great preview for Nova Scotia Music Week this October in Yarmouth.
