The Sherose Island Schooners are back for their 11th season.
The defending Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League champs will host the Amherst Athletics at the Sherose Island ballfield Saturday for a double-header.
Amherst is the team the Schooners defeated in last summer’s championship tournament on home field.
Left-fielder Jarrett Ross says they have another strong team.
“The majority of our core guys are still with us, we lost a couple but picked up a couple more. We have high expectations coming into the season,” said Ross.
The team were supposed to open on the road in Windsor last weekend, but it was rained out.
It’s free to watch Saturday’s double-header, it starts at 1 p.m.
