Canada has named their contender for the World Air Guitar Championships coming up in Finland this August! The National contest took place in Toronto this weekend and featured air guitarists who had won regional competitions. According to Alan Cross, one of the competitions judges, the competition was judged by originality, taken by music, charisma, technique, artistic impression, and of course airness. This year Canada will be sending Danasaurus Rex!
The Air Guitar Championships are just one of many competitions out there that sound like they don’t exist but actually do! Take for example the Heavy metal Knitting Championship. It sounds exactly as bonkers as it is. Contestants are judged on their attitude, originality, song choice, stage presence, crowd reaction, artistic impression and finally their knitting presentation! Last years winner was a group named Giga Body Metal who flew to the Finland based competition all the way from Japan!
The Air guitar championships, and the heavy metal knitting championship are just two championships that sounds like they don’t exist but actually do, on a world wide level too! What’s something where if there was a competition for it, you think you’d be number one?
