Help is needed at the Yarmouth Legion.
They’re hosting a town hall meeting at Branch 61 on Parade Street Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
President Brenda Hattie says the decades-old building is in need of repair.
“With rain coming (on Friday) we’ll probably find a flood here, because shingles have been flying off the roof,” said Hattie.
She also stressed the need for members to volunteer their time for events, and to fill vacant executive positions.
Hattie says she has a small group of volunteers, but more are needed to keep the Legion open.
“My heart and soul is here. It’s with veterans. I try to get events here, we serve meals to veterans, I do some cooking, we just need some more help,”
Wedgeport Legion member Andre Boudreau says a strong executive and volunteer group is needed.
“The Yarmouth Legion needs those vacant positions filled, including a treasurer. They need a well-rounded executive. The membership and public needs to step up, to run the Legion, you need this in place,” said Boudreau.
