A man is in custody after a police response to an armed and barricaded situation in Sand Beach, near Yarmouth.
RCMP were called to a home on Wyman Road on Monday night for a report of a person in distress.
Police say the man had barricaded himself inside his residence and was armed.
A heavy police presence was brought in, including an RCMP negotiator and additional support units.
Officers closed off Wyman Road and asked the public to stay away from the area during the response.
RCMP confirmed later that the man was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported, and police say there was no threat to the public at any time.
An investigation is ongoing.
