The Yarmouth Mariners aren’t done yet.
They won all three games at home over the long weekend, finishing off with a 5-2 victory over the Amherst Ramblers on Monday afternoon.
Ryan Loveless led the way with two goals, Keegan Warren stopped 38 shots.
Yarmouth picked up victories against Valley 6-3 on Friday and Truro 2-1 Saturday, they sit nine points back of Pictou County for the final playoff spot in the division.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says they are giving themselves a chance.
“We’re just trying to battle as hard as we can. We put ourselves in a tough position, but we’re clawing our way out of it. There is some momentum in the room now,” said Barron.
The Mariners face the Crushers on the road Thursday, three out of their seven remaining games are against Pictou County.
Barron says the players wanted to reward the fans with good efforts after last weekend’s lopsided losses on home ice.
“Couldn’t be happier for them. Our goaltending between (Keegan) Warren and Carter Arnold was good, they gave us a chance to win every game. All four lines were contributing and our six defensemen. It was a great weekend.”
The Mariners play their next five games on the road, they’ll wrap up the regular season at home March 8 and 9 against Summerside and Pictou County.
