A high-honour for a long-time volunteer in Yarmouth.
Reverend Bill Newell was presented with a King Charles III Coronation medal at the Royal Canadian Legion on Tuesday night.
Newell has worked with the Yarmouth Food Bank and donated his time to many causes over the years.
He says you have to try and help people where you can.
“You can’t solve all the world’s problems, but a friend of mine years ago used to say, ‘you can curse the darkness, or you can try to light a candle.’ We’ve tried to light a few candles along the way,” said Newell.
Rev. Newell says he appreciates those who help the community and donate to the food bank.
