A four-point weekend at home for the Yarmouth Mariners.
Beren Simard scored the overtime winner to lift Yarmouth over Valley 3-2 Sunday afternoon.
Ludovik Tardif tied the game with 14 seconds left as the Mariners won their second straight and third over their last four.
The dramatic win followed a 4-1 victory over Miramichi on Friday night, Tardif had two goals in that game.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says it’s a huge two wins.
“A big goal by Tardif to tie it, then Simard scoring in overtime. They’ve both been great since joining us at the deadline. The fans got treated to a real exciting game today (Sunday),” said Barron.
The Mariners are 12 points back of Truro for the last playoff spot, but play the Bearcats four times in the next seven games.
The teams meet in Truro on Wednesday night.
It’s also a home-heavy schedule for Yarmouth in the month of February.
“We’re going to take it one game at a time. Everyone is excited for Wednesday and it’s a great opportunity for us. We want to be in the conversation for playoffs.”
Keegan Warren was the winning goalie in both games, he was first star on Friday with 39 saves.
