A rough weekend for the Yarmouth Mariners.
They lost 7-1 in Summerside on Saturday night, and 4-2 to the Truro Bearcats on Sunday afternoon at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
Saturday’s game was over early, as the Capitals took a 5-0 lead in the first period, chasing goaltender Thomas Fontaine who allowed four goals on eight shots.
Carter Arnold went the rest of the way in goal.
The game was also rough, with several fights and misconducts being handed out.
The Mariners finished with over 120 minutes in penalties.
On Sunday in Truro, the Mariners got behind 4-0 again in the second period, before goals from Jared Pitman and Ethan Hoffe got them closer.
Fontaine made 19 saves in the loss.
One bright spot, the return of Ethan Johnson from injury.
The 20-year-old made his Mariner debut in Saturday’s game, scoring Yarmouth’s only goal.
The Mariners had won four of five before the weekend.
They now have a record of 10-14-0-1, and slipped out of a playoff spot into fifth in the Eastlink South Division.
Yarmouth’s next game is on the road Thursday night in Amherst.
