Funding for the Tri-County Women’s Centre.
It’s one of 12 organizations that will receive money from the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia.
It’s set aside for groups that support women, girls, two-spirit and gender-diverse individuals.
The centre will receive 40-thousand dollars to support mental-health services.
According to the foundation, women, girls and gender-diverse individuals are most vulnerable to sexual violence, with certain populations including Indigenous women and those identifying as transgender being at an even greater risk.
In a release, foundation CEO Daniel Holland says advancing gender equality helps build communities of respect, belonging and possibilities.
