Four First Nations have renewed an ‘interim understanding’ with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
The Acadia, Annapolis Valley, Bear River and Glooscap bands will once again launch a moderate livelihood lobster fishery under a DFO-issued harvest document.
They’ll fish 3,500 traps in LFA’s 33, 34 and 35 during lobster season.
In a release, Fisheries Minister Joyce Murray says the understanding shows continued progress in implementing the treaty right to fish for a moderate livelihood.
The first understanding was implemented last year.
