Good Morning !
With Halloween happening on Monday and the forecast calling for possible showers for the trick or treaters . One might need something to warm up , like soup ? No,, Not passing out soup as a treat but having soup as a Halloween meal or dinner perhaps ?
Halloween night at our house when I was young was pretty much like any other night other than my Dad being on edge about the neighborhood hell raisers doing something to the property or car, never ever happened though.
There were Halloween’s when my Dad would make a Scouse ! If your wondering what Scouse is ?
delishably.com tells us Scouse is a beef or lamb stew traditionally associated with the people of Liverpool, who have come to be known as “Scousers” over the years.
The recipe for Scouse is pretty broad: There is no definitive recipe, because it was traditionally made from leftovers and whatever was in season at the time.
Warm and filling, Scouse was originally brought to Liverpool by Northern European sailors. The original name of what was once a lamb stew was “lobskause” or “labskause,” which over the years has been shortened and Anglicised to just “Scouse.” CLICK HERE for a recipe .
Over the years I have heard many stories of Halloween Soup , kind of a Scouse but with cabbage.
