Halifax and the South Shore are under a rainfall warning.
Environment Canada says up to 80 millimetres of rain are in the forecast today, with local amounts exceeding 100 millimetres.
This could create localized flooding and wash-outs.
The warning extends from the city down to Shelburne County.
The rain is expected to let up tonight.
