The Yarmouth Mariners have added two local prospects to their organization.
Using territorial draft selections, the Mariners selected Yarmouth County’s Jared Pitman and Sam Hope.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says they are different types of forwards.
“Jared is more of a pass first, smooth player, where Sam is a hard-shot power forward. We’re excited to get them both on our list, it’s exciting times right now, ” says Barron.
Pitman and Hope both played for the South Shore Mustangs U18 Major team last season.
Barron says they were outstanding rookies.
“They both put themselves on the map in not only our league, but in major junior hockey as well. We’re fortunate to have them on our 45 man roster.”
Pitman was selected by Acadie-Bathurst in the QMJHL Draft last weekend.
The MHL Draft goes this Friday night, the Mariners aren’t scheduled to pick until the third round.
Barron says they’re open to trading into the first two rounds.
He also says two major signings could be announced this week.
