Members of the Travel Media Association of Canada have descended on Yarmouth this week.
Yarmouth is welcoming 200 members for the 2022 conference which is being held at the Rodd Grand Hotel.
The conference is on from June 22-26, but attendees have been arriving in the area since Sunday.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association Executive Director Neil Mackenzie says they’ve been doing pre-tours with the attendees.
“That’s a big part of the conference as well, showing these professional media folks the region,” says Mackenzie. “They’re doing tours, they’re going whale watching, they’re experiencing Acadian culture, they’re eating, they’re drinking. They’re experiencing it all.”

There’s going to be a welcome reception aboard the CAT ferry, a lobster event on the waterfront, a gala at the Rodd and a visit by the Bluenose II.
Mackenzie says they’re going to shed the light on the region.
“We’re going to really bring a lot of attention and awareness for Yarmouth and Acadian Shores and our partners in the southwest for national media, which is always the goal of a destination marketing organization. We always want to build as much awareness and travel demand as we can.”
There will also be some tours for the attendees after the conference.
“It’s really big for us,” says Mackenzie. “It’s usually hosted in larger centers. We’re definitely hitting above our weight here a bit and it’s all because we have such great partners in Yarmouth and Acadian Shores, the southwest and throughout the province to make this happen.”
