You’ll be able to take in more than just a show at Th’YARC this month.
Local artist Joanna Gilman Hyde has put on a gallery of her work that’s open to the public.
Hyde’s art incorporates found objects into other works. She discussed her inspiration.
“I’m inspired by found objects that I find in second hand stores and also lying on the side of the road,” says Hyde. “I just get inspired by objects themselves and the way the light hits, for instance, flattened cans.”
She says the style in know as appropriation.

Hyde says there are 50 pieces on display, all of which are for sale.
She says the gallery is a major step forward in her career.
“Because of the amount of space that I was able to use for the show and the reputation that Th’YARC has as a theatre,” says Hyde. “It’s a popular place and I’m honoured to have the show here.”
The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday until June 30.
Hyde encourages anyone who visits the gallery to sign the guestbook.
