
RCMP in Digby have charged a man after a home invasion yesterday.
Around 7 a.m. police responded to a report of a home invasion on Water St. in Digby. They found the victim, a 60-year-old Digby man, with minor injuries.
The victim heard someone banging on the front door of his apartment. after opening the door, an unknown person forced their way in, assaulted the victim, stole his wallet, car keys and cell phone before fleeing in the victim’s car.
Police were able to identify the suspect after he used the victim’s bank card at a local business within minutes of the home invasion. They then executed a warrant at a home on King St. where the suspect and a second person were arrested. Everything stolen and purchased was seized.
Joshua Derrick Mitchell of Digby is facing multiple charges including:
- Robbery;
- Break and Enter and Commit;
- Assault;
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (two counts);
- Possession/Use of a Stolen Credit Card
Mitchell appeared in Digby Provincial Court today.
The second person was arrested and later released without charges.
