
A Barrington man has plead guilty to manslaughter in an overdose death in Halifax in 2018.
Thirty-two year old Jesse Arthur Simpson pled guilty in Nova Scotia Supreme Court late last month.
In November 2018, Simpson visited his friend, 19-year-old Cameron Annette Clairmont of Barrington, in Halifax, where the two took a purple powder which was later found to contain fentanyl.
Clairmont suffered an overdose, emergency services responded and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later, police said their investigation determined there were grounds to lay charges against Simpson, he will return to court for sentencing on July 21.
Simpson was first charged in November 2019.
He was also charged with criminal negligence causing death, possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl.
