Cell service is an issue in many parts of rural Nova Scotia.
The Municipality of Shelburne says they want better for their residents.
Warden Penny Smith says they’ve contacted Bell and Develop Nova Scotia on the issue, and council will be writing a letter to the province.
“To see whether they have a plan in place to address the poor cell service, and if so, what that timeline may be. And also, whether some of the funds provided to Develop Nova Scotia may be used in advancing this plan,” says Smith.
She says there is limited cell service in some areas, but it’s practically non-existent.
Smith says many residents only use a cellphone, and no longer have a landline, and that’s a huge safety concern in case of emergencies.
