The RCMP have arrested three men in relation to a homicide last May in Yarmouth.
On the evening of May 24, Yarmouth Town RCMP were called to a home on King Street and found a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound outside. EHS attended but the man died from the wound. His death was determined to be a homicide.
Police have charged James Edmund Spurrell, 33, of Yarmouth, with second degree murder. Gordon Jack Hein, 38, of Barrington, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon. Both were already in the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility on other matters when arrested. They both appeared in court today and were remanded.
Herbert Spurrell, 68, of Yarmouth, has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Discharging a Firearm. He was arrested last Friday and was released on conditions.
Hein will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on February 2, while both Spurrells will appear on February 14.
Police say the investigation continues and is being lead by the Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit with assistance from the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Yarmouth RCMP General Investigation Section and the Yarmouth Town RCMP.
