A busy year in politics with provincial and federal elections held over the summer.
It was a successful 2021 for West Nova MP Chris d’Entremont, who was re-elected, and now serves as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons.
d’Entremont says he’s had a great chance to connect with MP’s and cabinet ministers in his role.
“It will be a benefit for West Nova to be able to be connected to those ministers as we need things to change, or an investment needs to be made in our area,” says d’Entremont.
As for 2022, he says he’s hoping to see an end to lockdowns as we start to live with COVID-19.
d’Entremont says he’ll also be watching the lobster fishery closely, as Moderate Livelihood agreements with Indigenous fishers are discussed.
“Whether it’s the fishery, or safety issues onboard vessels, we’ll be looking at that. We have a lot of things to be thankful for, but also a lot to discuss as 2022 moves in.”
He says the Department of Fisheries and Oceans needs to improve communication with Indigenous fishers.
