We’re looking back at 2021 in the Municipality of Shelburne.
The Warden says construction of a new administration building, working on an accessibility plan, and the hiring of a new economic development director were a few major milestones.
Penny Smith says another big project was providing better high-speed internet for residents.
“As of July of this year, every premises that has access to power now has access to the best high-speed internet available in Canada,” says Smith.
She says the internet project was completed well ahead of schedule, and it’s been a game changer.
Smith says improving cell-service is a goal for the future, and other strategic priorities will be discussed in the coming months.
“It’s just at the beginning stages of reviewing of the past priorities, and looking forward to our priorities for 2022.”
She also acknowledged the passing of her friend and former councillor Terry McIntyre in October, who served for 30 years.
Anthony Gosbee, a local business owner and volunteer, will be sworn in as the new councillor for District Four on January 12th.
