Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team has cleared an RCMP officer of sexual assault allegations.
The RCMP contacted SiRT on April 26th, 2021 to request that it take over an investigation being conducted by the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit and the Charlottetown Police.
The investigation was in relation to a complaint made to the RCMP on May 7, 2020 by individual claiming to have been drugged and sexually assaulted by an RCMP officer.
The individual claimed the encounters happened in Nova Scotia in the early 2000’s and again in PEI in February of last year.
During the investigation SiRT interviewed the individual, the RCMP officer, and a number of witnesses and reviewed text messages.
The investigation determined that both sexual encounters between the individual and officer were consensual, therefore the RCMP officer was not charged.
