Two people have been charged with sex trafficking related offences stemming from an incident at a Bridgewater hotel.
On Tuesday, Bridgewater Police received a call from a 16-year-old female who didn’t know where she was.
Upon arrival, police learned the female from New Brunswick had been sexually assaulted, and had been staying with a group of adults in other hotels across the province.
In a release, Bridgewater Police said 30-year-old Bruce Nicholas Gilroy from Brookdale, Nova Scotia, and 28-year-old Chelsey Wilson from Moncton, New Brunswick, are facing multiple of charges including recruiting a person under 18 for the purpose of exploiting sexual services, unlawful confinement, sexual assault, receiving a financial benefit resulting from committing an offence, and administering a destructive or noxious substance.
The victim was taken to a safe location in her home province of New Brunswick by police.
Police said there is a possibility that the matter isn’t isolated and may involve other communities, including in New Brunswick.
Bridgewater Police have requested help from the Human Trafficking Unit for the Province of Nova Scotia to further the investigation.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Bridgewater Police Service at (902) 543-2464.
