A second fire in the Yarmouth area today.

At 12:41 p.m., the Yarmouth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a home in Wellington.
Chief Mike Deveau says the home was fully involved when they arrived.
“Career staff responded with the first two engines,” says Deveau. “Then we brought in both of our tankers and our support units.”
At the onset, the Port Maitland and Lake Vaughn fire departments were called to assist. The Eel Brook and Lakes & District departments were also called in for additional tankers and man power.

Deveau says the front half of the home collapsed within half an hour. There was no one inside at the time.
He says the home’s metal roof has made it difficult for crews to get at the fire.
“We’ve actually called in a local excavating company and they’re going to pull some of the roof off with a machine so we can get at the fire and put it out.”
The home is next to Rose Road in Wellington. Highway #1 is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
The Tri-County Regional Center for Education says buses are expected to be delayed for Meadowfields, Maple Grove and Yarmouth High.
The fire is not considered suspicious at this time.
