Federal election day is getting closer.
Cheryl Burbidge is carrying the NDP banner for West Nova.
Burbidge recently ran in the provincial election for the NDP in the Annapolis riding. She says the NDP would do a better job than the other parties by sticking up for ordinary people.
“We’ve been, in the last 40 years, helping out big businesses, having tax breaks and all that stuff. It’s beginning to show that it’s really affecting our lowest income earners, our children, our people trying to start out.”
A licensed Practical nurse of 35 years, Burbidge says climate change and clearcutting are the most important issues to her.
She says we need to listen to the advice of scientists.
“Is it going to be hard? Yes it’s going to be hard. Things are going to change. What we do now is not going to be what we can continue to do,” says Burbidge. “There’s lots of studies out there, there’s lots of advice. You just need to take it and go with it.”
Election day is September 20th.
