Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill has new roles in the liberal caucus’ opposition to Tim Houston’s PC government.
Churchill will serve as deputy leader of the opposition as well as critic of Health and Wellness and Health Care Professional’s recruitment.
“It’s a great honor to take on the deputy leader position in our caucus.” says Churchill.
He held the position of Health and Wellness minister in the last government’s cabinet and is excited for his new role.
“There were a lot of promises made in the provincial election by the conservatives on healthcare, really ambitious promises,” says Churchill. “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to hold them to account and ensure that they’re coming through on those commitments that they made to Nova Scotians.”
Churchill says his local priorities are to make sure the PC government follows through on the previous Liberal government’s capital commitment to build both a new emergency department and addictions management hub at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
He says he’ll use the knowledge he gained in his role as Health and Wellness minister for his new one as opposition critic.
“I know the system right now. I know where the challenges are,” says Churchill. “I’ve got a good idea on what policies need to be brought in to help that system function better.”
